Hi friends! In this article I will tell you a little about the city of #NY, some curiosities and tips to enjoy the tour and not get lost in the city!

New York: The city of dreams

That is the definition that comes to mind when you hear about this place. Times Square then !? OMG. This is the most populous state in the US, and a reference in touristic places. It is not that difficult for people living in Sao Paulo or any other big city to adapt to there: traffic, chaos, people “walking-running” every day.

When you are hosted close to the center, you have the opportunity to visit Manhattan, which is where most of the touristic places of NY are located, such as the Central Park, Bryant Park, Broadway and the Empire State Building.

📌 Art Everywhere

In NY, you can find art anywhere you go (in addition to the modern art museum). Many artists are scattered in the streets and subway stations. These artists include musicians, magicians, comedians and really good dancers, who promote entertainment and large gatherings during their daily lives.

📌 Getting around NY

As previously mentioned, New York is a chaos in traffic. Because of this, one of the most flexible options for getting around the city is by subway! The railroads in NY are very wide, and cover a large part of the city, being a great choice to save time (especially for #tourists). The subway costs $2.25 and you can save money by buying the card already loaded for one week or even one month. In all cities close to the center, the public transportation is abundant.

One of the problems with the card (called a metrocard) is that many times when it passes through the turnstile, it charges, but does not allow you to pass. Another factor is that the card is made of paper, so if anything happens to the card (folding, kneading...) it will not work anymore.

Also, the subway and platform systems are very old and CONFUSED! So if you are new there, it is very worthwhile to have a map on hand to assist you.

Edit: If you take a subway going in the wrong direction, some stations have a one-way platform, so there is no way to change directions without leaving the station and going around.

About the buses, the metrocard allows a connection to the subway within a period of 2 hours. Always keep an eye on the bus schedules, as the business hours ends sometimes around 6:00/7:00 pm.

📌 Weather

New York's weather is generally quite pleasant during most of the seasons, however, it is horrible to have to leave the house during the winter. Despite being a very good season to have fun skating on ice and seeing snow, the cold is indescribable, and if you are not wearing the right clothes, you will freeze (literally !!). On the other hand, the city is beautiful during the spring, being a good time to visit the botanical gardens and enjoy the parks.

📌 View of Manhattan skyline

It is always wonderful to watch the sunset over the city of Manhattan or from the Brooklyn Piers. The view of the city, which is already admirable, becomes even more impressive. It's a great way to end the day after a city tour.

Ending, it was a pleasure to live in this place that draws attention from worldwide and I can't wait to go back!
